Two in a row for Delort!

Having already won the award in September, Andy Delort has again been named the Crédit Agricole Aiglon of the Month for October. The Gym striker, who played a major role in our good form last month, scoring three goals, earned 43% of the votes. After just two months at the club, the No. 7 wins his second individual award, finishing ahead of Youcef Atal (27%) and Melvin Bard (17%).

He was the favourite for the award in October and was naturally chosen by Le Gym’s fans. Having already been named the Crédit Agricole Aiglon of the Month in September, Andy Delort has made it two in a row. After starting in four of Le Gym’s last five games, with his only absence coming in the 1-1 draw against Marseille as he was ineligible to play, the No. 7 boosted his stats by adding three goals to his total in the games against Lyon (a 3-2 win) and Angers (a 2-1 win). Against OL, the centre-forward converted the penalty that pulled Les Aiglons level before completing the comeback, whilst away to Angers, his two spirited goals from outside the box got Le Gym out of a tight spot after being behind on the scoreboard. Aside from his success in front of goal, the striker charmed the fans with his never-say-die attitude, his energy and his work rate. At the Stade Raymond Kopa, Delort never gave up, managing to break through the home side’s defensive unit and bringing the whole team along with him. After just two months at the club, the former Montpellier man has scored five goals, bagged two assists and won two Aiglon of the Month awards – and that’s without adding his two goals and one assist for Montpellier to his stats. With 43% of the votes, Le Gym’s second-highest scorer finishes ahead of Youcef Atal (27%) and Melvin Bard (17%).

ATAL AND BARD IN THE TOP THREE

In October, the only match that Youcef Atal missed was the 2-0 win at home to Brest. The high point of Atal’s start to the season, however, was his dazzling performance against Lyon. After coming on as a substitute with Le Gym two goals down, the Algerian put his energy into helping the team, as he scored less than a quarter of an hour into his time on the pitch before winning the penalty that was to be converted by Delort. Melvin Bard, meanwhile, also opened his goalscoring account for the season. Against Brest in the team’s first outing of the month, the left-back got our second goal of the game, finishing a move that he himself started. With solid and lively displays on the wing, Bard was named the Aiglon of the Match against both Brest and his former club, Lyon.

With Nice playing their first game of November against Montpellier, Andy Delort will be given his Crédit Agricole Aiglon of the Month award ahead of kick-off. Just a few weeks after receiving the award in September, the striker will again be honoured at pitchside after the pre-match warm-up.
