Ligue 1

The last 10 games in focus

After picking up their 50th point of the season, Nice are into the final straight. We take a look at the closing ten matches of the 2021/22 league campaign that will decide the Aiglons' destiny.

THE 'EUROPEAN' RUN

Third after 28 games, OGC Nice have the same number of points as second-placed Marseille and one more than Rennes in fourth. That means there is a lot at stake over the next two games with a trip to Marseille on Sunday (8:45pm CET) before hosting the Bretons just after the international break. Following that, Christophe Galtier takes his side to Lens, currently ninth and just two points off sixth (weekend 10 April).

A DERBY AND RELEGATION STRUGGLERS

OGC Nice will then take on four teams who are currently between 15th and 20th place. Lorient (17th) and Troyes (15th) visit — they both defeated Le Gym 1-0 in the first meeting between the teams this season — either side of a midweek derby at the Stade Louis II with Monaco.

April ends with a trip to bottom side Bordeaux, who are currently four points off the play-off spot occupied by Saint-Etienne, the team Nice are due to face on Matchday 36 though the game will be rescheduled due to the Coupe de France final on 7 May.

THE CHAMPIONS COME TO NICE, REIMS TO FINISH

The final visitor to the Allianz Riviera in the 2021/22 season will be the reigning champions Lille (currently 6th) before a trip to Reims, who have a 12-point cushion between themselves and the bottom two on the final day of the season.
