Welcome, Kojo Peprah Oppong

21-year-old Ghanaian centre-back Kojo Peprah Oppong has today joined Les Aiglons from Swedish top-flight side IFK Norrköping.

Following the arrival of Juma Bah, OGC Nice has now registered another defensive signing in the form of Oppong, who possesses an athletic and explosive profile, excellent stamina and a strong presence in duels, both on the ground and in the air. “Kojo is a player that we’d been supervising until very recently,” explains Florian Maurice, Le Gym’s sporting director. “Even though he’s young [N.B.: Oppong turned 21 last month], he has established himself in the Swedish top flight at Norrköping, after a very interesting loan spell at [second-division side] Sundsvall. What drew us to him was not only his speed, his mobility and his aggression in duels but also his ability to play in different defensive systems. Obviously, he still has areas to improve upon and things to learn; we’re well aware of that, and so is he. We’re also here to help him to develop, though, and he’s ready to play because the Swedish league season is already underway.

Fabrice Bocquet, OGC Nice’s CEO, is also delighted about Oppong’s arrival: “He’s coming here to strengthen a key area in which we’ll have several major absentees in the first half of the season, with the upcoming campaign promising to be a busy and demanding one. His profile and his determination to join us convinced us that he has everything required to quickly adapt to the culture at OGC Nice and to Franck [Haise]’s demands.

For Oppong, signing for OGC Nice represents “an important moment and a source of pride”. “I’m going to reach a new level at Nice, a club that fights for the top spots in Ligue 1 and that will be playing in Europe for a second consecutive season, and I feel ready for this new challenge,” the player concluded.
