Amidou Doumbouya joins Le Gym

16-year-old centre-back Amidou Doumbouya has joined Les Aiglons from FC Sochaux.

With the transfer window open and the Rouge et Noir board working hard to bolster Francesco Farioli’s squad, the club is also preparing for its future. With that aim in mind, OGC Nice have registered the signing of young, left-sided centre-back Amidou Doumbouya. Born in Bourges on 5th August 2007, the French U16 international arrives on the Côte d’Azur from FC Sochaux, having joined Les Lionceaux’s youth academy in 2022. The player, who had no shortage of interest from other clubs, chose to take the next step at Le Gym. “The board showed me the best project from a footballing perspective. I’m really proud to be joining OGC Nice, and I can’t wait to start this new adventure,” he explained.

Florent Ghisolfi, Le Gym’s sporting director, expressed his delight at Doumbouya’s arrival: “Amidou was being sought after by some of the biggest clubs in Europe. He’s a left-footed centre-back with considerable potential. He gives off real maturity in the way that he plays, both defensively and in terms of how he uses the ball. “Amidou will come into the first-team squad. We want to get him ready for the highest level and to create an environment that will make him one of the club’s key components in the future.

“Amidou has some great attributes, both as a player and as a person. He’s a well-educated and calm young lad, which was also a factor in our choice. I’d like to wish him welcome, and I hope that we’ll achieve great things together,” concluded OGC Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivère.
