Aiglon of the month

Delort ends the season with a bang!

Having put in some top performances over the course of the season’s run-in, Andy Delort is your Crédit Agricole Aiglon of the Month for May, picking up 83% of the votes.

If one match could sum up a season, it may well be the final one. The one in which Le Gym, who were two goals down with 15 minutes left to play, almost lost it all. The one in which Andy Delort came to the fore to bag himself a hat-trick, send his side up to fifth place in the table and offer them a route into continental football. With a penalty, a left-footed shot and a header at the Stade Auguste Delaune, the Sète native netted a hat-trick inside seven minutes, bringing his 2021-22 goal tally up to 20 (including two for Montpellier early in the season).

In May, Delort was almost always there when it mattered. It was he who took his chance on Matchday 35 to ensure that his side would be leaving Bordeaux with a 1-0 win and all three points. It was he who equalised and then put Le Gym in front in the 4-2 win over Saint-Etienne on Matchday 36. Finally, it was he who came to the rescue just as the curtain was coming down on Nice’s season. As a result, the no. 7 and scorer of six goals over the course of May naturally picks up his fourth Aiglon of the Month award of the season, following his honours in September, October and April.

Below Andy is another Algerian international, Hicham Boudaoui. Having scored against Saint-Etienne, the midfielder picks up 8% of the votes, whilst the consistent and ever-impactful Khephren Thuram brings up the rear with 4% of the votes.
