J-P Rivère

“The referee told me it was a penalty”

Following the draw between Nice and Caen (2–2), Jean-Pierre Rivère delivered his feelings with a real sense of frustration, explaining that Mr Letexier admitted to having made “an error” at the end of the game.

“There is a moment in the game that is disappointing, explained the Chairman. I went to see the referee at the end of the game and I said to him: “To make a mistake is normal, that’s part of refereeing, but your linesman told you it was a penalty.” He said to me: “I have looked back at the replays, and you’re right, it was a penalty, I made a mistake.” It happens, but it’s a shame that a season can depend on little errors like that, it can really hurt you.”

The clarification made, the Chairman gave a more general summary of the game. “It’s two points dropped, but our side has shown its character, they equalised. I will take the positive from the game. It is just a shame that we didn’t get it to 3-2. It’s up to us to play each game as well as possible. Another disappointment is the injury to Wylan. It’s too soon for tests. We have lost Alasanne and Wylan, that is a lot, but we will get on with it. There are other players, we will hang on.”Following the draw between Nice and Caen (2–2), Jean-Pierre Rivère delivered his feelings with a real sense of frustration, explaining that Mr Letexier admitted to having made “an error” at the end of the game.
