OGC Nice and Mantova 1911 (Serie B) have reached an agreement on the permanent transfer of the Romanian attacking midfielder to Italy.

Rareș Ilie, who joined the Gym in the summer of 2022 from Rapid Bucharest, played 10 official matches in red and black. His last appearance was on Matchday 15 of the 2024–2025 season against Montpellier.

The 23-year-old player went on several loan stints: Maccabi Tel Aviv during the second half of the 2022–2023 season, FC Lausanne-Sport during the 2023–2024 season, then to US Catanzaro in the winter of 2025, before playing for Empoli FC throughout the 2025–2026 season.

He has now signed a permanent contract with Mantova 1911, where he will continue his career.
