Obrigado, Dante !

After ten seasons in the red-and-black shirt, Dante played the last match of his professional career in the victorious play-off second leg against AS Saint-Étienne last Friday.

Having arrived in Nice in 2016, the emblematic captain of Le Gym marked the history of the club thanks to his leadership, his professionalism, his longevity and his attachment to the colours. In ten years, he became so much more than a player: a beacon, a role model and a leading figure, an OGC Nice legend.

Now, he starts a new adventure. Dante is joining Bayern Munich where he will start his coaching career with the German club’s U23 side next season.

It’s goodbye, but not forever: “I’m deeply grateful for all that OGC Nice has given my family and me during ten exceptional years,” said the Capitao. “We have had some great times, come through some challenges, shared immense joy and built bonds that will remain forever. I’m happy with the way the season finished with top-flight status secured. I have the feeling I accomplished what I had to accomplish here, to have given the best of myself right to the end. Now, a new chapter is opening, but I leave with my heart full of gratitude. I am leaving Nice, but I know my story with OGC Nice is not over. Our paths will cross again.

The whole of the club would like to thank Dante for his professionalism, his unfailing commitment and for everything that he has given Le Gym over a decade.

Obrigado, Dante. And see you very soon.

ONE LAST TIME WITH THE SUPPORTERS

”The last match didn’t give me a chance to spend some time with the fans. I can’t leave like that…,” said Dante after the play-off. So, a goodbye event is currently being prepared. Mark your calendars for late afternoon on 18 June. More information will be published soon.
