Guessand and Youssouf voted Aiglons of the season

Evann Guessand and Youssouf Ndayishimiye have been voted Aiglons of the 2024-2025 season by the OGC Nice supporters. The two players follow on from Marcin Bulka, who won the award last season. The awards were announced on Tuesday evening at the Business Club’s end of season “garden party” and will be celebrated on Saturday, after the last match of the season against Brest.

For once, two names will go down as Aiglon of the season. Two names for two influential players. The supporters that voted were unable to decide between Evann Guessand and Youssouf Ndayishimiye. Both players therefore made it to the top of the podium, a fitting reward for their hard work over the course of the Rouge et Noir’s season.

Top scorer with 12 goals (11 in L1) and second in assists (7, 6 in L1) with one game to go before the end of the season, Evann Guessand has skyrocketed under Franck Haise. He’s been the most used player (2997 minutes in all competitions) and the forward has also secured his place in the Ivorian national team, appearing in every squad this season and even opening his goalscoring account with Elephants against… Youssouf Ndayishimiye’s Burundi.

The squad’s vice-captain, “the wall of Bujumbura” has been exemplary match after match. Used in every position at the back, he’s also stepped up in key moments. His last-minute goal at Strasbourg (Matchday 29, 2-2) in one of the turning points of the season put the team back on track. In Paris, his goal secured a remarkable win (Matchday 31, 3-1) and brought momentum, just as his words and presence do in the dressing room. After suffering a cruciate ligament injury after the match at the Parc, the Burundi international finished his season in pain, but will be sure to embark on the road to recovery with his characteristic determination.
