Dante extends his contract!

"Before starting the press conference, I'd like to share some good news with you…"

It was with an even bigger smile than usual and a dose of emotion in his voice that Dante announced he has extended his contract with OGC Nice, taking him through to 2023 with the club he joined six years ago.

"It's with a lot of pride, happiness and joy that I'm announcing I have signed a one-year extension with the club. As I'm very proud of that, I would like to share that today," said the captain ahead of Thursday's press conference before the Paris Saint-Germain game. "I would like to thank all the people who have put their faith in me, the people who have given me a lot of support, who help me every day. I learn with them and the technical staff too. Thank you, really, for putting your trust in me. I hope to get a lot of victories and help the club a little while longer."

His previous contract extension was signed in December 2020 shortly after his ACL injury, today's context is different. An integral part of the league's best defence, the CommanDante's heart played a role in putting pen to paper this time.

"I'm touched. It's no longer a 'club-player' relationship, it's a love story. I love the club. I'm very intense in everything I do in my life and I'll never forget the people who give me a helping hand. When I was injured, the club never let me doubt — not once — that they would keep their faith in me. Once again today, they have kept their word, it's something I'll never forget."
