This Sunday the Gym brought a point home from their trip to Lorient in matchday 29 of Ligue 1 (1-1).

Before the game the Niçois were warned: the Merlus were on a good run of form and impressive at home and often brought games back after falling behind. That was exactly how it went down but Nice still got a draw from the encounter thanks to a stunner from Myziane early in the second half.

On the right hand side of the Gym’s attack - in a 4-3-3 formation with the return of Dolberg, Lotomba and Bambu to the starting eleven – the number seven scored his third goal of the season just before the hour mark. After picking the ball up on the halfway line he dribbled past three opponents made his way into the box before finishing brilliantly with the outside of his boot (0-1, 58’). This strike crowned the niçois’ only strong period of the first half. Unfortunately it was tainted by the Lorient equaliser eight minutes later. After making his way past Lees-Melou and Bambu, Laurienté played in Wissa who celebrated his substitute appearance with a goal (1-1, 66’).

After that both sides looked for the winner and gaps appeared. Then the locals upped the pressure but the Aiglons stayed strong with an impressive performance from Benitez and Saliba. That was how the first half played out too in which the team from the coast struggled. Dominated by the Merlus they conceded a lot of opportunities (click here to see) without creating much themselves apart from a long distance effort from Lees-Melou.

Under pressure during the majority of the game the Rouge et Noir win a point in Brittany and prolong their run of positive results after two wins last week.

They will welcome Marseille next Saturday in matchday 30.
