Le Gym lose at Lorient (3-1)
OGC Nice lost to FC Lorient on Sunday on Matchday 14 of Ligue 1 (3-1). Les Aiglons are 10th in the table.
Le Gym fall at Le Moustoir. Travelling to Brittany with the aim of breaking a losing streak, three days after a heavy defeat in Porto in the Europa League (3-0), Franck Haise's men were no more successful in Morbihan.
A LACK OF CUTTING EDGE
The match had started well, with an early goal after twelve minutes of play. Mohamed-Ali Cho, who was lively but unsuccessful in front of goal, as shown by his missed opportunity from a very good position (5'), made up for it by delivering a very good cross towards the Lorient goal. Although Sofiane Diop was the intended target, it was Arthur Avom Ebong who unintentionally deflected the ball into his own goal (0-1, 12').

Well organised and dangerous on the counter-attack, the Rouge et Noir unfortunately conceded an equaliser from their opponents' first real chance of the game. The visitors, who have lacked form the past few weeks, were unable to capitalise on this opportunity, with Laurent Abergel's blocked shot leaving Yehvann Diouf with no chance (1-1, 31'), in a move where Pablo Pagis could have been penalised for handball by Mr Lissorgue...
Le Gym kept going and even pushed to regain the lead. Two fine team moves could have led to a goal, but first the post and then Yvon Mvogo prevented attempts by Tom Louchet (43') and Tiago Gouveia (45'+1) from finding the net. This lack of cutting edge once again proved costly for Les Aiglons, who were too passive defensively. Sambou Soumano took advantage of this to give his side the lead just before half-time, converting a fine cross from Arsène Kouassi (2-1, 45'+2).
DIOUF KEEPS THE SCORELINE DOWN
The second half did not allow Melvin Bard and his teammates to get back into the game. In fact, they quickly conceded a third goal from a set piece, when a fine combination from Lorient led to Soumano's second goal (3-1, 52'). Despite his best efforts, Diouf, who had just prevented the Breton centre forward from scoring with a superb save, was unable to keep it out. Apart from a powerful header from Kevin Carlos that was saved by Mvogo (63'), Le Gym failed to create any further chances in a difficult end to the match. Joel Mvuka hit the side netting (84'), Bamba Dieng hit the post and then Diouf (88'), but failed to add to the score.
