Biography

Jordan Amavi

After successfully undergoing a medical on Wednesday, Jordan Amavi (27) is back where it all started for him: the place where he won the Coupe Gambardella in 2012, was converted from winger to full-back, made his Ligue 1 debut, established himself at the top level, and said goodbye to the Ray and hello to the Allianz Riviera. It is also where his departure — in different times and economic context — contributed financially to the building of the training centre, a fact no one has forgotten.

He left OGC Nice in summer 2015 before returning on loan in January 2022, the day after Hassane Kamara’s departure for Watford, to bring his experience to Christophe Galtier’s squad. Experience that he picked up in the Premier League with Aston Villa, the club he joined after leaving the Côte d’Azur. Then at Marseille for four and half seasons, with whom he featured in the final of the Europa League in 2018 against Atletico Madrid (0-3 defeat). This experience and his quality saw him called up to the France senior team, but without ever appearing for Les Bleus.

During the second half of the season, he played 9 matches under Christophe Galtier’s orders, including 8 in Ligue 1.
