Biography

In Egypt, he is a star, a mainstay of one of the greatest national teams on the African continent, with whom he reached the final of the CAN in 2022. A status that Mohamed Abdelmonem also enjoyed at Al-Ahly, a club with whom he built up a fine record of achievements. A three-time Egyptian champion (2018, 23, 24) and winner of two African Champions Leagues (2023, 2024), the Pharaohs' central defender arrived in Nice in the summer of 2024. 

After a period of adjustment, he showed himself to be increasingly at ease with Franck Haise's team, with whom he made 18 appearances. Unfortunately, his 1st season with Nice was cut short early on, when he ruptured the cruciate ligament in his right knee during the Aiglons' victory at the Parc des Princes (J31, 3-1).

He did not play for the red-and-black team in 2025–26. At the end of the season, however, he did play in the World Cup with Egypt.
