Press conference

"2 Players tested positive"

The results of Thursday’s pre-match tests have confirmed two positive cases of Covid-19 within the OGC Nice squad, confirmed coach Patrick Vieira in Friday’s press conference. The two players, whose identity is protected by the laws of medical privacy, have not shown any symptoms.

"We made the decision to isolate these two players. They're in contact with the club doctor. They will be retested and monitored. We'll do new tests tomorrow where everyone will be retested," said Le Gym coach.

The LFP protocol considers that if "a team has more than 3 players or first-team staff (4 or more) isolated over 8 days, the virus is circulating within the club". The FFF has set up a "Covid commission" in collaboration with infectious diseases specialists, headed by the national federation doctor, who is responsible for taking a decision on match postponements depending on the circumstances. Asked about maintaining the match between Nice and Lens (Sunday at 17:00 CEST) in these conditions, Patrick Vieira reacted by declaring himself "worried for the holding of the match and for the future also because we do not know what is going to happen. We will wait for the results to see what the next steps will be. The context is special but all the clubs have the same problem and we have to adapt. At the club, all measures are taken but we have the responsibility to be careful with our life outside the club confines, especially as our region is particularly affected by this virus."
