How do the Gym travel ?

As the final five battles are getting ready to take place in the fervour of the Allianz Riviera, the closing stages of the season will also take place away from the Côte d’Azur, because the Gym will travel for 6 out of its last 11 games. Here is a short run-down of the situation 48 hours before the trip to Dijon.

THIRD AWAY FROM HOME

Whilst they lead the league table for home form, the Gym currently sit with the third best record away from home, behind PSG (30 points) and AS Monaco (28). The Aiglons, who have played one game fewer than the two sides previously mentioned, have secured 23 points away from the Allianz.

A QUESTION OF EFFICIENCY

When Lucien Favre’s men have scored away from home (10 times in 13 matches), they have never fallen to defeat. Their lack of goals has also coincided with their two defeats this season, at Caen (1-0) and Monaco (3-0). It was only at Bordeaux, at the end of last year, that the Aiglons managed to secure a point without scoring (0-0).

BEHIND? THE GYM WILL COME BACK…

Apart from the trip to the Gironde, the Gym have shared the points on four other occasions, 3 of which after having trailed (at Montpellier, Bastia and Rennes).

…AND WHEN THEY HAVE THE LEAD, THEY HOLD ON

When they have taken the lead, the Niçois have only been pegged back on one occasion: at the Parc des Princes (2-2). Apart from the game in Paris, the Gym have always held on, earning 6 victories, with 5 of them secured by a small margin (0-1).

IRON DEFENCE

Having conceded just 12 goals,  Paul Baysse and his teammates currently boast the best defensive record away from home in Ligue 1. They have even managed to keep clean sheets on 6 occasions (joint best in the league with PSG).

At the other end of the pitch, the Gym have scored less than at home (15 goals opposed to the 29 scored at the Allianz Riviera). The most prolific away from home are Alassane Plea (6 goals), Wylan Cyprien (3 goals, 1 assists), Valentin Eysseric (2 goals, 2 assists) et Mika Seri (4 assists).
