Souquet : "My goal ? I would have preferred to win"

After the draw against Bastia (1-1), Arnaud Souquet gave his view on the evening’s proceedings: “To begin with we got moved about a bit. We made a few mistakes, and I was the first to do so. After conceding the first goal, it was more complicated but we know how to react. We are frustrated to not have scored another and to have got the win. We are disappointed because we play every game to win, whoever we come up against.”

« Better than against Metz »

However, the Nice defender believes that his team are on the right track: “At the end of last year, we were more realistic and won some tight games. We are making a few more small mistakes. But in comparison with the game against Metz, there is progression. We had more chances. It’s down to us to take them in the next games (Nice will welcome Guingamp next week).”

For that reason the Aiglons can rely on Arnaud Souquet, who seems to be climbing the ladder, step-by-step, having been named man of the match against Metz, the ex-Dijon defender scored the first goal of his career in Ligue 1 against the Corsicans. A joy tinged with regret for Souquet: “I am happy, but I could have been happier if we had been able to take the three points.”
