Favre: 'We can live with one point'

During his press conference, Aiglons coach Lucien Favre recognised the difficulties his side faced and the nature of the draw.

Lucien, how would you analyse this match?
It was a very difficult match, extremely complicated. I was expecting it. At 0-0, we can take that and we can live with one point. There were half chances in the game, both sides could have won. Since the start of the season, all the matches have been difficult, every single one. We can’t say that we have dropped two points given the nature of this game. We lacked impact, the final ball.

Did you have to many players missing to expect better?
We knew that with the Africa Cup of Nations and injuries, we were going to miss players. That’s the way it is. In terms of the transfer window, it is very difficult to find players who will be effective straight away, unless you spend a fortune, which we can’t. We can’t complain and we will continue to work with the squad we have.

Was it an enforced tactical decision to play a 3-4-3?
It was a bit of a formation enforced due to lack of other options yes. We had prepared slightly differently yesterday, with Le Marchand in the middle, but he felt some pain at the end of training and so I had to change my strategy.

The pitch didn’t help you either…
It is special, that’s true. But I am not going to use that as an excuse, I haven’t done so before this season and so I won’t start now. Both teams had the same issue. We won’t get any better if we look for that kind of excuse following poor performances.

For Bastia, do you think you will have a stronger squad?
We get Balotelli back for sure. Cardinale, I am not sure yet. I hope that we won’t lose any more between now and then. Plea? We will see, but it was just a knock. We didn’t have any injuries for the first three months of the season and now, the number is starting to build up. There are periods like that.
