Disciplined Gym get friendly win over Carouge
Le Gym defeated Swiss second division outfit Carouge 1-0 in a friendly played behind closed doors at the Training Centre during the long international break.
With still a week to go before the resumption of Ligue 1, Le Gym were already back on the pitch, looking to keep up the momentum following their victory over Lille before the international break.
And they started the contest aggressively, pressing their opponents intensely from the outset. The Carouge goalkeeper first saved a shot from the edge of the box but could only watch on minutes later when Le Gym opened the scoring when, from a cross by Jonathan Clauss, played in by Sofiane Diop, Isak Jansson side-footed home (15', 1–0). The Swiss side responded and hit the post themselves with a long-range effort (25'), before Nathan Ngoumou at the other end, was denied by the ‘keeper after a fine pass from Junior Mandza (40’).

YOUTHFUL AND DISCIPLINED
The second half was a hard-fought affair, but Le Gym still created numerous opportunities to extend their lead. The visitors struggled with the constant runs in behind and energy of their hosts, but Les Aiglons were unable to pull away on the scoreboard. Carouge, for their part, launched counter-attacks that posed a threat to Teddy Boulhendi’s goal. The second half also provided an chance to see the young substitutes in action, with Aboulaye Camara, Andria Svanidze, Samy Wattel and Enguerrand Bouard all taking to the pitch.

Le Gym return to Ligue 1 action against Strasbourg next Sunday 11 October, at 15:00 CET.
