Gabin Bernardeau, Le Gym’s first signing

OGC Nice is pleased to announce the signing of Gabin Bernardeau. Born on 24 January 24 2006, the 19-year-old midfielder arrives from Le Mans.

He joins following a busy season, where he played an important role within the Le Mans squad. With 37 matches (all competitions), 4 goals and 9 assists, Gabin Bernardeau greatly contributed to Le Mans’ promotion to Ligue 2, after 5 years spent in National 1, while also being in the starting line-up for the Coupe de France Round of 16 match against Paris (0-2).

"We closely followed his performances with the recruitment team, he had a great season,” explains Florian Maurice, Sporting Director of OGC Nice. “Gabin has real potential and we are convinced that with hard work, he can become an important player for the club. It’s up to us to support him in the best possible way and give him time to grow, because going from N1 to L1 and to European football is never trivial, especially at his age. He was out of contract and we collectively felt his arrival was a good opportunity, so we took it.”

"I’m very proud to be joining the club,” continues the player, who featured in the National 1 Team of the Season. “The words of the management and my discussions with the coach convinced me. I’m aware that I’m joining a very competitive squad, with many internationals. I can’t wait to get to work to show my qualities at this level and to continue developing, with a lot of confidence, humility and determination.”

“Gabin is the first signing of this transfer window,” concludes President Rivère. “He’s a young player full of talent and blessed with a remarkable mindset. He’ll have the chance to grow in a healthy and competitive environment. The ideal conditions to progress. We believe in him and we welcome him warmly.”
