Cédric Varrault replaces Sébastien Squillaci in the first-team staff

When the first-team squad report back for pre-season training on 23 June, they will see Cédric Varrault among Franck Haise’s technical staff.

“Toto” Squillaci has decided to step away from his duties. The former France international defender, who had previously been part of the club’s recruitment department, is leaving the club. “It’s a club for which I had a lot of respect during my playing career and that I have grown to love since I’ve had the chance to work here. Le Gym has given me a lot and I would like to thank all those who have shared in this adventure, the board, staff members, players and employees…I’ll leave behind a lot of friends and will follow results as a fan.”

He is replaced as Franck Haise’s assistant by Cédric Varrault. The former Red-and-Black captain, who has previously been reserve team assistant coach, U19 assistant coach and then head coach, and – last season – head coach of the U17 side, returns to the first team in a different role to the one he had for eight years as a player. “I’m immensely proud to join Franck Haise’s technical staff. And I’m also delighted to step into this role at my favourite club. I want to thank Le Gym, who – in addition to giving me the opportunity to play at the top level – have given me the chance to develop as a coach since I ended my playing career. And they are still enabling me to develop now. I’m at the club’s service and I’ll give all my desire and determination to contribute next season.”
