Aiglon of the Month

Benitez gets March crown

Walter Benitez is your Crédit-Agricole Aiglon of the Month for March, the goalkeeper collecting 25% of your votes.

Second in February behind Justin Kluivert, the Argentinean keeper continued his great momentum in March. During a month marked by the reception of Paris Saint-Germain (1-0 victory), and trips to Montpellier (0-0) and Marseille (2-1), the number 40 was decisive. Impeccable against the Parisians, 'The Wall' was also particularly strong at La Mosson. On a ground historically hostile to Nice, he allowed his team to bring back a point despite the difficulties Christophe Galtier's men experienced. We will remember his save from Savanier's spot-kick as well as his four other stops - while Le Gym played more more than half the match a man down. Paradoxically, it was in the match where he had the least work to do that he had to pick the ball out of the net - a penalty from Milik and then a header from Bakambu breaking a run of clean sheets that stretched for more than a month.

Behind the great Walter in the voting, we had Khéphren Thuram (20%), who was in the limelight as he started the matches against Paris and Marseille.

The midfielder, who just turned 21, came in ahead of Andy Delort (18%). Frustrated at the Vélodrome, the number 7 started the month with a bang by scoring a spectacular late winner against PSG.
