On Saturday, Les Aiglons continued their pre-season preparation with a third friendly, this time against Nancy, which ended in a 3-3 draw.

The story of the match

For the first time this summer, Franck Haise’s players found themselves trailing. They were forced to step up their game against the most recent National champions. A familiar face for the Aiglons and an old friend of the Niçois. The squad responded well, showing strong character and dominating overall, despite drawing at the final whistle.

Final tally: 3 goals scored, 3 "gifted" (according to Franck Haise), an eventful match and a productive training session in front of 500 season ticket holders.

The goals

After a rough start, Les Aiglons regrouped and began pressing high. Following a high turnover, Tom Louchet rifled a shot past Enzo Basilio to equalise (20', 1-1).

Just minutes later, from a corner kick, Morgan Sanson delivered a pinpoint ball to Antoine Mendy, who powered home a header (30', 2-1).

The second third was relatively quiet, though Sanson nearly scored with an effort cleared off the line. In the final third, Evann Guessand produced some excellent work to set up Bernard Nguene, who was left unmarked and scored his second goal of pre-season (90', 3-2).

What tactics for Le Gym?

As in the previous two matches, Le Gym started the game in a 3-4-3 formation, which Franck Haise’s side kept until the end of the second third. Isak Jansson played 47 minutes today after his 30-minute appearance against Aubagne on Wednesday.

A new formation (4-3-3) was introduced in the final third, featuring young talents like Hamza Koutoune and Djibril Coulibaly, alongside Ali Abdi, who made his first appearance of the summer.
