Da Cunha signs for Nice and joins Lausanne with Guessand

OGC Nice is happy to announce it has signed Lucas Da Cunha. The 19-year-old midfielder transferred from Stade Rennais and will be loaned to Lausanne-Sport for the 2020-21 season.

A talented attacking midfielder, Da Cunha signed for OGC Nice in midweek. Technical and a good finisher, the young man, born in Roanne, was crowned France U19 champion with the Britany side in 2019, in a team that also featured Alexis Trouillet. For the record, Da Cunha scored a hat-trick in the 4-0 final win over Montpellier.

A France youth international, he made five appearances with the Stade Rennais first team (2 Ligue 1 matches, 2 Europa League matches, 1 Coupe de la Ligue match) and will play in the Swiss Super League this season.

The objective is that he uses his talent to help Lausanne-Sport and gain invaluable first-team experience before returning to play for Les Aiglons in the 2021-22 campaign.

Guessand also loaned to LS

As well as Lucas Da Cunha, another young Aiglon is joining Lausanne-Sport: Evann Guessand. Like his teammate from the Pedro Brazao academy, in Switzerland since 25 September, the 19-year-old forward has been loaned, without option to buy, until the end of the 2020-21 season.

The powerful centre forward (1.85m, 79kg) is looking forward to continue his progression in a quality squad that began the Swiss championship with a win over Servette (Wk.1, 2-1) and a draw away to FC Luzern (2-2). A France youth international in every category between U16 and U19, Evann Guessand is a pure product of the Nice youth academy who made his first team debut in 2020 (Coupe de France Rd-64 vs Fréjus Saint-Raphaël, 2-0) and made three appearances in Ligue 1 this season (against Lens, Paris and Bordeaux).

OGC Nice wishes Lucas and Evann an excellent season with Lausanne-Sport! The club wishes likewise to 21-year-old Thomas Trazié and 19-year-old Armel Zohouri. The two Ivoirians, midfielder and right back respectively, joined the OGC Nice academy from partner club RC Abidjan. The two, who hail from Divo in Côte d’Ivoire, will also play for Lausanne-Sport in the 2020-21 season, taking advantage of the pathways within INEOS Football.
