Bordeaux 0-0 Nice
Les Aiglons so unlucky
In spite of some good situations and hitting the woodwork three times, Patrick Vieira's men come back from Bordeaux with just a point after a goalless draw on Sunday.
There will be plenty of regrets on the trip back to the Côte d'Azur after this fifth league game of the season. The performance was good, chances were made, only goals were missing. A little lack of precision and a huge dose of bad fortune contributed to a deflating afternoon at the Matmut Atlantique.
The Rouge-et-Noir created plenty of goal threat, and tested the woodwork on a trio of occasions (Lees-Melou, 30', Lopes 65', Gouiri 89'), but were not rewarded.
Their willingness to get forward left space too for Bordeaux, and the hosts tried to exploit it only for Walter Benitez to stand in their way.
Kasper Dolberg, Amine Gouiri, Rony Lopes and Dan Ndoye, who was making his first start, were impressive as a front line but luckless against the French top-flight's most solid defence (2 goals conceded).
Alexis Claude-Maurice helped the visitors up the pressure after the break, but there was no way through. There was, however, cause for optimism ahead of next Saturday's home game with FC Nantes (kick-off 9pm CEST).
