Nice 2-1 Monaco

Le Gym come from behind to win Le Derby!

After a suffocating game of football, Le Gym secured all three points from Le Derby by the smallest of margins, thanks to a brace from Kasper Dolberg (2-1).

Each side had the best of one of the halves, but it was the Niçois who took home the victory! Despite struggling in the first half of the match, Coach Vieira’s side managed to stand strong and keep their heads above water.

Shortly after the 30-minute mark, Ben Yedder was there to transform the visitors’ domination into a goal. Bakayoko broke quickly, found the forward and he made no mistake (0-1, 33’).
But Patrick Vieira‘s side reacted well after half-time, boosted by the slim lead the visitors had managed to post on the scoreboard. Before the hour-mark, the coach changed formation, switching from a 3-5-2 to a 4-3-3, with Danilo playing in front of the back four and Herelle in the heart of defence. It was a change that made a difference and it paid off. More balanced, more agressive, Les Rouge et Noir equalised after a beautiful cross from Ounas was met by the head of Dolberg (1-1, 59').

Then, during an entirely relentless end to the game, the home side took the lead when Wagué’s cross was turned in at the near post by the Danish international (2-1, 90+3').

The perfect end to a fiery evening.
