Inaugural award for Ounas

Adam Ounas was your clear winner for Crédit Agricole Aiglon of the Match against Bordeaux (1-1). The acrobatic goal scorer received 49% of the votes.

In the 57th minute at Matmut Atlantique on Sunday. From Wagué’s cross, Ounas produced a wonderful finish. With his back to goal, the former Bordeaux man threw up his right boot to get the better of Koscielny and acrobatically kick the ball into the back of the net, beyond Costil. “I saw Moussa Wagué in space on the right and preparing to cross,” he revealed after the match. “I tried to find a position in between the two defenders. It was a bit behind me, and I just tried to get it on target and it went in.”

With a decisive contribution in each of the last three Ligue 1 matches (assist vs Toulouse and goal vs Brest), the Nice No.10 is in great form. 

He was once again one of Nice’s best against his former employers, with a match-high four shots at goal.

After hitting the crossbar with his left foot just before the break, it was his right foot that delivered the equaliser, rewarding his excellent all-round performance.

 

BENITEZ AND CLAUDE-MAURICE NECK AND NECK

Walter Benitez, with 24% of the votes, finished second in the voting. The Argentine made several top-drawer saves, especially in the final 15 minutes when he preserved his side a share of the spoils. The former Quilmes man produced a wondrous save to deny Maja on the line (74').

Alexis Claude-Maurice completed the top 3 with 23.5% of the votes. The ex-Lorient winger once again illustrated his excellent current form, highlighted by his solo raid down the left and a powerful shot that stung the palms of Costil in the Bordeaux goal (43’). He was also at the start of the move that led to Nice’s equaliser, when he broke free in midfield and found Wagué on the right wing.
