Nice-Matin

Team of the decade

Nice-Matin asked fans to name their team of the decade — here are the results.

A SOUTH AMERICAN BACK LINE

David Ospina (2008-14) is in goal, and in front of the Colombian, three of the back four are also from South America.

Dante (Brazil, at the club since 2016) and Renato Civelli (Argentina, 2010-13) form the centre-back pairing with another Brazilian, Dalbert (2016-17), at left-back and Portguese Ricardo Pereira (2015-17) on the opposite flank.

A TOP-DRAW MIDFIELD

In the middle of the park, Mika Seri (2015-18) and Wylan Cyprien, the second current player in the fictional XI, form a highly competitive duo behind Hatem ben Arfa (17 goals, 6 assists in a productive 2015/16 season) and Younes Belhanda, whose performances in the campaign after Ben Arfa left helped the club finish third.

DARIO AND MARIO UP FRONT

Dario Cvitanich and Mario Balotelli form the double-pronged spearhead of the Nice fans' dream line-up. Both goal machines stayed two-and-a-half seasons on the Côte d'Azur: the Argentine scoring 36 times, the Italian 43.

LUCIEN FAVRE IN THE DUG-OUT

Six of the 11 players worked under Lucien Favre (2016-18), the Swiss tactician named the club's Coach of the Decade by Nice-Matin readers.
