Crédit Agricole Aiglon of the Match

Unbeatable Benitez

On Sunday, Walter Benitez fully stepped up to his responsibilities as he proved unbeatable in every Rennes attack (0-0). Intimidating on his line, the OGC Nice keeper picked up 45% of the vote for Crédit Agricole Aiglon of the Match.

Against SRFC, the third best defence in the league was repeatedly called into action. And they found the right solution on every occasion, backed up by the excellent Walter Benitez. The goalkeeper took home (another) clean sheet. As if it were a habit, given it’s his 14th in 29 league matches, making his the best return of all goalkeepers in L1.

Although the woodwork saved the Argentine on several occasions (free-kick from Ben Arfa, header and shot from Hunou), the stopper equally pushed away strikes from Niang, Traoré and even Sarr.

The stat'

Walter Benitez made seven stops without conceding in the match. It’s the fifth time this season that the Nice keeper has made as many saves without conceding a goal. No other goalkeeper has managed this on more than one occasion in the league in the 2018-19 season.

Aside from Walter Benitez, the rest of the rear guard were equally lauded by the supporters of the club. Starting with the robust performance from Dante (19%), who picked up the same number of votes as Malang Sarr. Christophe Herelle takes the final spot on the podium with 17% of the vote.
