The schedule of the final sprint of the season

There are nine league matches left for Le Gym in this 2018-19 season. Nine matches to try to finish in form and prepare for the future. Here is Les Aiglons’ schedule for the final sprint.

Week 30

The “beginning of the end” will start with a trip to Dijon on Sunday (kick-off at 3pm). The clash against the Bourguignons (19th in L1) will be filled with a desire of revenge, given that the men from the Côte were heavily beaten the first time they met this season (0-4).

Week 31

The visit of Montpellier will get April underway. Scheduled for Sunday 7, the match against Les Héraultais, who currently sit in the same part of the table as Le Gym*, will start at 5pm. As a reminder, the next visitors to the Allianz Riviera won by smallest of margins at the Mosson (1-0) back in September.

Week 32

Following that, Nice will leave the Comté to head to Brittany, where they will face Stade Rennais, who currently have the same number of points (41). In the first encounter between the sides this season, Les Aiglons came out victorious (2-1). A reminder that Rennes, between the two fixtures, have had an excellent run in the Europa League (knocked out in the Round of 16 by Arsenal).

Week 33

April will come to an end with two home matches. Two games against sides who will be fighting for survival. The first will take place against Caen. Since the sides’ first encounter this season (1-1, Week 2), Malherbe have slipped down the league and currently sit in bottom place.

Week 34

That is the position that Guingamp had occupied since Week 3, before climbing out of it with a victory over Dijon before the international break (1-0). It is worth noting that EN Avant, who beat Les Aiglons in the Round of 16 of the Coupe de la Ligue, PSG in the quarters and Monaco in the semi-finals, will play in the final of the competition against Strasbourg on 30 March.

Week 35

May will get underway with a huge challenge. The biggest in France even, given that the Niçois will travel to the capital to take on PSG. Leaders at the top of Ligue 1 by 20 points and with a game in hand, Paris may already be champions when the game against Le Gym takes place. Nice fell to a 0-3 defeat in the first encounter.

Week 36

After winning at the Beaujoire in September (2-1), Dante and his teammates will welcome FC Nantes for the penultimate match of the season at the Allianz Riviera. This is scheduled for the weekend of 11 May.

Week 37

The final away trip of the season will be at the Chaudron against Saint-Etienne. The two sides left on level terms in their first meeting this season (1-1, J18).

Week 38

Finally, the curtain will come down at home for the first time since 2014. And the fixture list has even promised a real surprise, with this final game of the season witnessing a derby with the neighbours from Monaco. Earlier this season, the two teams left the Rock with a point each (1-1).

*MHSC sit in 7th place with 42 points. Le Gym is in 9th with 41 points.
