On the eve of the Aiglons’ first steps in this season’s Coupe de la Ligue against Auxerre, Patrick Vieira spoke to the press.  Clearly setting out what is at stake from the cup clash that will take place on Wednesday at 5.45pm at the Allianz Riviera.

Makengo in the squad 

“It’s important for us to win, because we want to maintain our confidence, which will be so important for the rest of the season. The Coupe de la Ligue is a competition in which you can quickly find yourself in the final. We will take this game against Auxerre seriously, that’s why I will not be making changes”, explained Patrick Vieira, in response to questions about a series of changes for the game.

Once this point had been made, the coach delivered his usual squad update, announcing some good news: “JV Makengo trained with the squad over the last couple of days, he will be in the squad.” Although there remain some doubts over the availability of Christophe Hérelle, for whom a decision will be taken after “seeing how training goes today (Tuesday).”

Three members of the squad will be unavailable for selection. “Pierre Lees-Melou, Youcef Atal and Mickaël Le Bihan.” 

Dante and Mario Balotelli (suspended) will also miss out.
