PRESS CONFERENCE

3 questions for Morgan Schneiderlin

Morgan Schneiderlin, who spoke at the pre-match press conference ahead of the Paris-Nice match (Coupe de France round of 16, Monday 31 January, 21:15), believes that Nice have a good chance of winning at the Parc des Princes. The midfielder believes that the Gym must take inspiration from the first meeting of the season between the two teams (0-0, December 1, 2021).

Morgan, how are you enjoying the season so far on a personal level?
I had the worst possible pre-season when I got injured (in a friendly against Bastia), the medical staff and myself did not know the length of my absence at the beginning. I came back well from this injury, but there were new signings and the team started without me, so I was always playing catch-up. I decided to put my head down, work and put in the effort on the pitch to get into the coach's thinking. I think I managed to do that. I was also very happy that the team performed so well at the start, because it's always good to come into a winning group.

You are facing PSG again at the Parc des Princes, two months after the league encounter (matchday 16, 0-0). How useful can this first encounter be for you?
If we can repeat the same performance in terms of defensive desire and intensity, then we can hope for something. We do know very well though, and the coach insisted on this, that we could and should have done better with the ball. We worked on that this week. We will try to put in a complete performance. We know very well that to perform at the Parc des Princes, you have to be at 100%, have a bit of luck and them not to be at their best up front. We'll play our game, but believe me, we'll go there with a strong desire to win because everything is possible in the Cup and it's a great opportunity for us to win. It would be exceptional for the club to beat Paris and to be able to go further in this Cup.

Do you feel that everything is in place to have a great season and that this group is built to achieve something?
Yes, I feel that this group is ready. We talk to each other all the time in the dressing room, we demand a lot from each other in terms of our performances and the way we train. In the league, you have to have the mental and physical strength to hold on, because many of us have never experienced the top of the table positions. But it takes a lot. In the cup, we want to take our supporters to the final and win a trophy. We feel the enthusiasm around us and that it pushes us behind.
