Amavi: "The right time to come home"

After making his return in Red and Black at Nantes (2-1 victory), Jordan Amavi spoke to the press for the first time since coming back to the club, two days before the trip to Metz (M22, kick-off at 1pm). Verbatim.

How did your return to Le Gym come about?
The club contacted my agents. They responded. We discussed it and I met with Julien (Fournier, Director of Football). He shared the details of the club's projects. It's tempting. I am back to help the club to finish as high up the table as possible. There was a slightly bitter taste left around the way my departure came about. But the fact that Julien started with that during our meeting, that really got things onto a level footing. That's behind us now. I have always been in contact with Nice, it's a club that means a lot for me. It was certainly the right time to come home. I am back to help the club to finish as high up the table as possible.

Physically, how are you doing?
I am working to get back to100%. We are doing what needs to be done. In the coming weeks, I think I will get there. I still trained during the first half of the season, despite my lack of game time. There is real intensity in training, which allows me to speed up the process. Before I came back, I had already heard that Coach Galtier was a good coach. That's exactly what I have seen since arriving here. It's good to work in these conditions, with a coach that talks to you and gives you advice.

How do you see the competition with Melvin Bard?
Competition pushes you to go further, to be better. Given that it's healthy competition, it can only benefit the squad. There will be great competition because he is a very good player, I have seen it in training. We are going to enjoy ourselves in this last half of the season.
