Fibula fracture for Alexis Claude-Maurice

The worst has been confirmed for Alexis Claude-Maurice who will soon undergo surgery on the injury.

Prone on the pitch after a tackle by Adrien Thomasson, Alexis Claude-Maurice felt "like it's bad", as Adrian Ursea said in his post-match press conference following Sunday's 2-0 defeat to Strasbourg.

From that 36th-minute incident, players, fans, staff and club employees were holding their breath ahead of Monday's medical examinations, but the tests have now confirmed the France U21 player's initial impression.

It's a major blow for our No.10, who has made 37 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring five times and registering five assists. He had a hand in all three goals in the previous game against Brest (3-2). The 22-year-old will now be sidelined for several months, and will miss the U21 EURO knockout stages having been involved in the group stage along with Amine Gouiri.

OGC Nice is saddened by the injury to a player who is as talented as he is committed to his profession. Alexis can count on the support of the whole club to ensure he comes back stronger.

Forza Alexis!
