Aiglon of the Match - Crédit Agricole

Donis flies through the final game, Seri, Dalbert and Koziello rewarded

At the heart of everything good that happened on Saturday at the Parc OL (3-3), and the author of a brace, Anastasios Donis is your final Aiglon - Crédit Agricole Man of the Match of the season. 3 supporters out of 4 voted for the Greek, who beat the other scorer from the match, Mika Seri. A dead heat followed, as Vincent Koziello and Dalbert shared the final place on the podium.

At the origin of, thanks to the pressure he put on goalkeeper Anthony Lopes, and at the conclusion of the first Nice goal, the young attacker (20 years old) got the Aiglons back into the saddle, a few minutes after the fortunate first Lyon goal (10’). Making the most of the spaces left by the OL defence, playing with a high line. Tassos Donis was a real menace for the Lyon defenders, who he took out of the game one by one on the 30 minute mark, before playing into Belhanda, who was unable to convert.

3 starts, 5 goals

Before making way for the youngest member of the squad, Hicham Mahou (75’), Donis doubled his returns, and allowed the Gym to get back on level terms, for the second time in an eventful evening (69’). These were the number 22’s 4th and 5th goals, and he now becomes the 1st Greek player to score a brace in Ligue 1 in the last thirty years. Starting on 3 occasions in the league (15 sub appearances), he scored one goal every 91 minutes.

On the rise, the player loaned from Juventus scored 3 goals in his last four matchs, meaning one more than in his 14 previous outings. Thanks to this final flurry, he beats his record, established last season in the colours of Lugano (4 goals in 25 appearances in the Swiss Super League).

Seri, rewarded as captain

Final game of the season, and a big first for Mika Seri, whom Lucien Favre entrusted with the captain’s armband. 95 touches later, and his final being the one that converted the penalty to make it 3-3, the coach seemed satisfied by his midfielder’s performance.

With 9% of your votes, Seri appears in second place on a podium that he has dominated throughout the season.

Koziello - Dalbert, deserved holidays

Just this once, two players earn a bronze medal. In fact, you were unable to separate Dalbert and Vincent Koziello, on a par with 7% of your votes.

Very present on his left wing, the Brazilian won 66.7% of his battles (and 100% of his aerial battles). After having tried his luck on two occasions  (2’, 65’), he offered two gems to Donis (67’, 69’), who converted the second of the two.

Koziello, on the other hand, set-up the 1st goal for Donis, after having intelligently fooled the Lyon defence. Precious, precise, he made 97.1% of his passes (100% in the opposition’s half), gratified the fans with several classy moves, like this little nutmeg, perfectly achieved, through the legs of his former French youth international teammate, Corentin Tolisso (66’).

Another complete performance from the 21 year old midfielder, who started each of the 8 final games of the season. From the pitch of the  Parc OL, he wanted to give one last message to the Nice supporters - before making the most of - like his teammates - a perfectly deserved rest…
