Interview
Favre: "78 points, it's exceptional"
Coach, how do you analyse this final game of the season?
It is a good result, everybody is happy. It’s good to come and draw 3-3 here, in a magnificent stadium. We weren’t scared, we were convinced we could do something. It was touch and go at times, we went through stages, but we pressed very high. That’s what we needed to do. There were good things and some less good things, but it was encouraging, with the youngsters of the squad, the introduction of Ricardo, Mahou and Srarfi who brought us something else. Donis? He scored two, he made the most of his pace.
How do you sum up this season?
We have taken a lot of pleasure from working together. We have been through some great times. We dared to do it, to continue to play our way, out from the goalkeeper. These are risks, that at times can cost, but on the whole, it pays off. That’s why we have always wanted to play. At the end of the season, we have 78 points, 3rd place, that is exceptional.. We are very happy but also very proud of our season. At the start of the season, we tugged a bit by the hair but on the whole, it is deserved. What you have to look at is that we finished ahead of Lyon, Marseille and Bordeaux. That’s magnificent. To finish behind Monaco and Paris, it’s not illogical. We knew how to win games at the right time. We had a tough period in January, up until mid-February, but then we lined-up a good series of wins, which secured our place on the podium.
You entrusted the armband to Jean Michael Seri, the Aiglon of the Year, for the first time this season…
We spoke about it before the match. This season the armband has gone between Paul Baysse and Dante. This evening, it was between Mika and Maxime Le Marchand. Both of them deserved it, both for their qualities as players and as men.
