Aiglon of the match

Lees-Melou again

With 32% of the votes, Pierre Lees-Melou was your Crédit Agricole Aiglon of the match against Stade Rennais (1-1, last Friday).

Already named Aiglon of the Month for December – he received his trophy from a lucky fan before kick-off – Lees-Melou produced another excellent performance against third-placed Rennes.

Part of an attacking side that totalled 23 shots at goal, Lees-Melou ‘tirelessly made forward runs between the lines’, according to L'Equipe, who gave him the very good score of 7/10.  Nice-Matin gave him 6, highlighting his ‘immense work-rate’ upon his return from suspension.

6TH ASSIST, RECORD EQUALLED

While he often tried his luck (8 shots), PLM also looked to bring the best out of his teammates. Never more so than in the 47th minute when he provided the assist for Kasper Dolberg’s opening goal. It was the ex-Dijon man’s sixth assist of the season, equalling his previous best in the 2017-18 season. With four goals to his name as well, (including one in the Coupe de la Ligue), the Gym No.8 has played a direct part in ten goals this season.

The midfielder just pipped Kasper Dolberg (29%), who netted his sixth goal of the campaign (the fourth at Allianz Riviera), after first hitting the crossbar on the half-hour.

Walter Benitez completed the top 3 (20% of the votes). The Argentine made four saves and a challenge well outside his box that thrilled the home fans, and there was nothing he could do to stop Flavien Tait equalising from close range (81').
