Lorient - Nice (CdF)
The key info ahead of our Coupe de France quarter-final
Check out all of the key information on tomorrow’s Coupe de France quarter-final between Le Gym and FC Lorient, which kicks off at 20:30 CET at the Stade du Moustoir.
Diop SET TO MISS OUT
Having picked up five yellow cards so far this season – with the most recent one coming in our league game against none other than Les Merlus on 22nd February – Sofiane Diop is automatically suspended for tomorrow night’s match.
VAR IN USE BUT NOT GOAL-LINE TECHNOLOGY
Not only does VAR come into effect from this round onwards, but starting from the semi-final stage, spectators will be able to hear in-stadium announcements made by the referee in order to explain the outcome of a VAR review.
Goal-line technology, meanwhile, will be used from the semi-finals onwards, stadia permitting. A final decision will be made in this regard once the semi-final schedule has been established.
A THIRD CUP QUARTER-FINAL IN FIVE YEARS

For the third time in five seasons, Les Aiglons will be playing in a Coupe de France quarter-final. At this stage in 2022, they breezed past Olympique de Marseille with a 4-1 win, while in 2024, they fell to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes.
WINLESS AT LE Moustoir SINCE 2022
Prior to their 3-1 league defeat at the Stade du Moustoir in late November last year, Les Aiglons recorded a 1-1 draw there in 2023–24 and a 2-1 win there in 2022–23.

In the Coupe de France more specifically, Les Rouge et Noir were involved in a last-64 tie away to Lorient in 2017, when, despite Alassane Pléa’s opener, Lucien Favre’s men were knocked out with a 2-1 loss. Although he is the only player from the current squad to have been at the club at that time, Dante was actually absent for this particular encounter.
a TOP-QUALITY quarter-final line-uP
While the current Coupe de France holders, Paris Saint-Germain, bowed out at the last-32 stage of this season’s edition, the 2025–26 quarter-final line-up is competitive to say the least. According to the FFF’s website, for the first time since 2013, seven of the eight remaining teams compete in Ligue 1.
A ROUND SPREAD ACROSS THREE DAYS

The quarter-final action begins tonight with RC Strasbourg Alsace’s game at home to Stade de Reims and ends on Thursday evening with RC Lens’s trip to Olympique Lyonnais, with the semi-final draw due to take place an hour before kick-off at Groupama Stadium. According to the FFF, once the semi-final line-up is complete, the uncertainty surrounding the date and the venue of the final – which is related to planned work on the Île-de-France’s public transport network as well as certain clubs’ progress in European competitions – may be resolved. Two options are currently on the table regarding both details: either Friday 22nd May or Saturday 23rd May for the date and either the Stade de France or another stadium outside of Paris for the venue.
THE REFEREE

Bastien Dechepy has been appointed as the referee for this fixture. So far this season, Dechepy has taken charge of just one OGC Nice match: the 2-0 win over LOSC Lille at the Allianz Riviera.
