Press Conference

Rosario: "I wanted to be part of this project"

Having become an Aiglon this Tuesday, Pablo Rosario was at the press conference alongside Jean-Pierre Rivere and Julien Fournier. The new Gym midfielder gave his first impressions.

"Nice is a great club making progress and they are extremely ambitious. I wanted to be part of this project," explained Rosario, commenting on his choice to join the club. "The arrival of other Dutch players (Calvin Stengs and Justin Kluivert) is a good thing for me because it will allow me to integrate quicker. But I came to Nice because of the project and the club’s ambition. After starting his career in the Netherlands, at Almere City and PSV Eindhoven, the midfielder is looking forward to his first experience abroad: "I want to be a better player and I think this was the best choice for me. I’m coming to a very good league with a lot of physical and technical players. I know I can be at my best here, improve and bring great things to the team."

A "defensive midfielder", the Dutch international describes himself as a player "who can be aggressive on the ball and look to find teammates quickly. I like to play one touch football and I'm a team player. I also like to help my teammates in front of me.

JULIEN FOURNIER: "PABLO IS A CAPTAIN"

Julien Fournier, Director of Football: "We probably lacked aggression in the past, but it's not just about physical duels. It’s also about being aggressive on the ball. We needed to have more athleticism in the middle of the park. In our team, we’ve previously put ability and game intelligence ahead of the rest, and we struggled to have athleticism in our midfield because we can't afford them. In Pablo, we've found that bit of that athleticism in midfield and above all he is a captain. He was captain at PSV, and for me that means a lot. You become one naturally and it's always interesting to bring in captains. Like all players, Pablo has no guarantee of being a starter, but he will definitely have a place in this squad. It made him want to come."
