It was something of a personal revenge, following a fine save made by the goalkeeper from a header a few minutes earlier. Selected at centre-forward in the Nice 3-5-2, with Rony Lopes in support (see the below diagram), Amine Gouiri again caught the eye of rouge et noir supporters, and 41% of them made him their Aiglon - Crédit Agricole of the match.

When the stats back up the tactics: here is the average position and the number of touches made by the Gym players at Geoffroy-Guichard.
PLM is up and running
The France Under-21s player finished ahead of the game's first scorer: Pierre Lees-Melou, who got 23% of the vote. Playing on midfield, PLM was the Aiglon to win the ball back most times (11). Schneiderin: the boss
Finally, Morgan Schneiderlin completed the podium (21% of the vote). Playing in defensive midfield, the former Premier League star was unstinting in his efforts, notably when Saint-Etienne enjoyed a strong spell in the second half. Having missed the previous game (a 2-1 win against Nantes), the man from Alsace made a remarked-upon return. That augurs well ahead of European football (Matchday 1 of the group stage of the Europa League on Thursday at Leverkusen, kick-off at 18:55).
