We know (a little more) about the start of the 2020/21 season
At a meeting on Friday, the LFP Board reiterated that “the 2020/2021 season will be able to start as planned in August, with friendly matches taking place in July”, in a statement announcing an agreement with beIN SPORTS around the payment of international rights for the Ligue 1 Conforama season that has just come to a close (2019/2020).
“The LFP is now focused on restarting the season and allowing all or some spectators to attend in accordance with the health advice that will be defined with the relevant authorities” concludes the text. Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on Thursday, the Sports Minister outlined that stadium will not be open to spectators until at least 22/06/2020, unlike other public spaces. For the time being there is no indication of when this restriction could be lifted.
With Les Aiglons expected back at the training ground on 15 June, the Sports Minister confirmer that “sports professionals will be able to return to their sporting activity from 02/06/2020. For team and contact sports, this authorisiation will be combined with a regular testing programme that has been offered by the Sports Minister and validated by the Health Minister.”
“The return to sporting activities will not, however, allow for contact until the 22/06/2020, but will allow professionals to return to training, with improved medical surveillance which must allow a sportsperson with symptoms to be isolated immediately and be scrupulously supported back to normality” continued the Minister.
