Aiglon of the match

You voted for Boudaoui

Hicham Boudaoui is your Crédit Agricole Aiglon of the Match for the 1-1 draw away to Reims, with 53% of the votes.

At the Stade Auguste-Delaune, Hicham Boudaoui confirmed his excellent start to 2020. Already named Aiglon of the Match versus Fréjus Saint-Raphaël (2-0) in the Gym’s opener for the New Year, the midfielder has picked up his second gong for the term. In the starting line-up for the sixth time in the last seven matches (he was suspended against Rennes), Boudaoui was on fire down the right flank of the Gym attack.

The Algeria international was a constant thorn in the side of the opposition defence and ended up providing the breakthrough. It was from one of his excellent crosses (his 2nd assist in as many league matches) that Pierre Lees-Melou headed OGC Nice in front (0-1, 50’). Coach Patrick Vieira heralded his performance after the game: “When he has the ball, Hicham is one of those guys that knows what to do with it. He really adds something in attack. And he is a hard worker. He really takes a load off his teammates down that right corridor, especially Christophe (Herelle). We need his energy and is defensive work.”

The Algerian finished ahead of Pierre Lees-Melou, who received 38% of your votes. No player won more ball that him (14 level with Reims’ Chavalerin). The Aiglon of the Month for December and January continued his excellent run and further improved his stats with four goals and six assists this term in Ligue 1.

Walter Benitez (9%), who made several good saves in the opening exchanges, completes the Top 3.
