Despite a good performance, the Gym fell to defeat against Torino (0-1) during the team's fourth friendly of the summer.

After more than dominating, the Red and Blacks created a series of chances in the first half, but were stung by the Italian side's realism in front of goal. Set-up in a 4-3-3, with Lees-Melou as a "false 9", flanked by Perraud and Srarfi, the Aiglons conceded the opener in the 9th minute', as Andrea Belotti had two attempts from a corner - initially hitting the post, before finding the back of the Nice net (1-0).

Coach Vieira's side didn't let this opening goal bring them down. More structured, more inspired in its movement and fresher generally, they were unable, however, to get on the scoresheet. Hérelle even hit the bar on the 30 minute mark, the perfect example of an unprofitable dominance.

Up against them, Torino made a large number of changes and progressively took control of the encounter, particularly in the last half an hour of the game. Albeit, the Aiglons continued to pose a constant threat to the Italian side, despite their numerical disadvantage. Making an impact off of the bench, Saint-Maximin found the gloves of Ichazo (coming on to replace Sirigu) in the 83rd minute, then Sacko missed the target (85')...

It was written in the stars that a good performance would remain unfruitful.

The Azuréens will return to Nice this evening to continue their preparation, in order to be ready for 11 August, when Ligue 1 gets back underway.
