LOOKING BACK: 2016/17

June 2016: A change of air

Holiday time goes hand in hand with the time to look back. The break offers, in this way, the opportunity to pick apart, month by month, the Aiglons’ adventure in 2016/17. An adventure that began with significant changes within the club, made official in June.

The decor hadn't changed, but the protagonists were different. On 29 June, the Red and Blacks retook to the pitch to begin their adventure. New shareholders arrived, Lucien Favre replaced Claude Puel, the spine of the previous squad  (Ben Arfa, Germain, Mendy, Pied) was broken up. Hult and Genevois also moved on. Walter Benitez becomes the first recruit. The youngest squad in Europe made way and... was replaced by even younger players, surrounded by several important elements from the previous season, who had finished in 4th place in Ligue 1 (Baysse, Seri, Plea, Ricardo, Koziello...). Bosetti, Eysseric and Vercauteren were also back.

A change of air filled Charles-Ehrmann: an air of curiosity and of mystery. A long season awaited the Aiglons, who prepared to enter Europe into the Group Stages of the Europa League.

The preparation got underway intensely...
