L. Favre: “Just the pleasure is left”
Two days before the visit of Angers (kick-off on Sunday at 9pm), Lucien Favre spoke to the press, digging deeper into the detail about the last home game of the season. Assured of finishing the season in 3rd place, the Gym coach accepts the idea of easing off from his side, but intends to mobilise them so that they finish the season on a high.
Coach, do you get the feeling that there is a bit of a feeling of relaxation in the Gym’s dressing room since you secured 3rd place?
A bit yes, especially when Paris beat Bastia (5-0). It wasalmost already decided, even if there is a slight chance, but now, it’s a bit different, there is no more hope to keep. During training we have noticed a bit of easing off, that’s normal, but the pleasure of playing in front of our fans for the last time this season is still there. So we need to play well.
Exactly, Sunday is the last home game for the Gym in 2016/17...
We are always supported by our fans, they were there all season. There is always a great atmosphere, now, the stadium will be full and it is the end of the season. I think there are lots of things planned; it’s really great to be with the fans.
On a sporting level, how do you prepare for the match against Angers?
From Marseille, there will be at least 3 or 4 players missing. We need to find the answers to play well. The most important, is that we give our all and that we continue to play. Angers are in the final of the Coupe de France and have some really interesting players, very athletic, powerful. Diedhiou, Bamba, Pepe, the midfield...They are a very good team, who are well organised and who should have beaten Monaco 2 or 3-0. Against Paris, it was close too, so we will need a good performance.
