Favre: “An exceptional first-half”

In his press conference, Lucien Favre spoke about his side’s performance against Toulouse (1-1). The Nice coach paid tribute to the Aiglon’s first-half.

Coach, how do you analyse this draw against Toulouse?

It’s a shame, because we played a very high-level first-half. It is one of the best halves of football that I have ever seen because we moved them about in the game. It’s at that moment that we need to score, but we missed the chances. We should without a doubt be leading 2-0 at half-time. But that’s the way it is.

During the first period, you could have got a penalty (when Valentin Eysseric was brought down in the 37th minute)…

I can’t say that. From the bench, it seemed like it was a penalty. But, you need to see the replays.

After their goal, did you find Toulouse more dangerous?

They didn’t come back into it. They were more dangerous on the counter when we were pushing for the 2nd. They have some great players, it isn’t illogical.

“Give our all”

The Gym were trailing once again…

But what counts is that we play well. We had an exceptional first-half. We enjoyed it from the bench, it was fantastic. There are definitely positives to take from today. We are doing our best. It wasn’t easy against Toulouse, who beat Paris and Monaco here. We created enough chances to win, but there we go.

Now, it’s the visit of PSG (Sunday 30 April at 9pm)...

It will be a big match. We would have liked to win today, that would have changed things. But whatever happens, we will continue to give our all in each game, that’s the most important thing. We work, and we will try to get better in the areas that stopped us from getting the three points today.

What do you think of the speed at which Monaco and Paris are moving?

This rhythm, we have maintained it for a while now, except for January and February when we were weakened. These are two teams who have shown that they are forces to be reckoned with.
