The style of the shirts has changed. The hair has shortened. Orders have replaced excesses. Time has gone by. On Sunday afternoon, Lucien Favre will head to Toulouse, a city in which he spent a season as a player (35 appearances, 7 goals during the 1983/84 season). “33 years on and I have never been back to the Stadium. That’s life, it’s like that.”  explained the Nice coach ahead of his trip to the Haute-Garonne. “I have fond memories of the city, the Stadium and of everybody that I met there. They were good guys.”

A compliment fired with the same candour that he had ahead of the first clash against them, where the Swiss coach explained cheerfully: “Toulouse, they are great memories, I am still in contact with some of my old teammates 33 years later, it’s brilliant! We send messages, we meet up sometimes.”

A small personal and “historical” aside to accompany this 34th match of the season in which the squad’s challenges are equally present.
