Aiglon of the Month

Seri marks his return

Mika Seri is your Crédit Agricole Aiglon of the Month for March. Almost receiving an absolute majority (50% of the vote), the Ivorian international saw off the competition from Wylan Cyprien (45%) and Rémi Walter (5%).

After missing the month of January because of the African Cup of Nations, the number 6 of the Gym hasn’t wasted any time in getting back to his best. In his characteristic style, the Ivorian keeps getting better. Both in matches, where he is an ever-present in red and black, and equally in the stats. The joint best passer in Ligue 1 (9 assists), the midfielder has equally notched up four goals this season, including a sublime finish against Nantes.

Often brilliant during his first season on the Côte d’Azur, he has, this season, added a precious element to an already established unit: consistency. An element that he has been able to add due to his effort and professionalism, which has seen him transform from a ‘revelation’ to a ‘technical expert’.

Wylan Cyprien finished just behind in second. The box-to-box midfielder has been travelling at lightning speeds. Having scored his 8th goal of the season against Dijon, he unfortunately picked up a serious injury against Caen which will see him miss the final games of 2016/17. Even though he is undoubtedly one of the best players this season, the former youth international also had his say in March. For both positive and difficult reasons.

Finally, it is Rémi Walter who completes the podium. Voted man of the match against Caen, the midfielder always comes good on each occasion that Lucien Favre needs him. Powerful and technical, he often allows his side to shift the balance of the game. He was unable to make the trip to the Beaujoire due to a calf injury.
