Kevin Carlos: “A good chemistry is developing”
Having joined OGC Nice from FC Basel this summer, Kevin Carlos is increasingly finding his feet at Les Rouge et Noir. Ahead of the game at home to FC Nantes at 17:00 CET this Saturday, the striker discussed his start to life in the south of France.
on JOINING THE CLUB
“I’ve felt very good since I joined. My teammates and the coaching staff welcomed me in the best way possible, which has made my day-to-day life much simpler. I’ve found the club to be very organised, with a lot of people here to help the players. On the pitch, we’re getting to know each other, which helps with settling in, and a good chemistry is developing. My teammates and I are starting to get along really well with each other and to understand each other, and as for our results, this is just the beginning. A lot of players have joined the club, and there’s a long season ahead. We’ll gradually improve while understanding each other better and better, so we need to keep our heads up and move forward together. As for competing with Terem [Moffi], he’s my bro; we’re both Nigerian. He’s given me a great welcome and has helped me, and because he’s been here for a while, he’s guiding me. We’ll support each other to help the team go as far as possible.”

ON Franck Haise’S INSTRUCTIONS
“The coach is asking me to do what I’ve always done: to give everything on the pitch, to be combative, to get into the box and to stay calm and confident because everything will come with time. This is just the start, and the aim is to keep improving game by game. I felt good against Auxerre, against Le Havre – despite the defeat – and against Genoa. As for my brace in that game, I’m obviously happy with it. For me, there’s no such thing as a friendly; I played it like it was a competitive fixture. That helps me to improve, and it’s the only way of being ready to perform whenever I step onto the pitch.”

ON THE GAME AT HOME TO Nantes
“We’ve trained hard and are hungry. We need to give everything on Saturday, to move forward, to correct our mistakes and not to dwell on the negatives. This game against Nantes will be the first of an intense run, with a lot of matches in a very short space of time, both in Ligue 1 and in the Europa League. The coaching staff has control over everything, be it our physical preparation or our recovery, and we’ll tackle this period in the best way possible. We’re ready.”
