When the net bulges

OGC Nice scored 65 goals this season: 48 in Ligue 1 and 17 in the Conference League (from a total of 51 matches).

All in all, 19 men got their name on the scoresheet for Les Aiglons this campaign (with only one own goal coming from an opposition player, namely Lyon’s Jérôme Boateng, who beat his own keeper on the final day).

FIVE PLAYERS SHARE 70% OF THE GOALS

Nearly 70% of Nice’s goals this season have come from five men: Gaëtan Laborde (16), Terem Moffi (9), Nicolas Pepe (8), Andy Delort (6) and Billal Brahimi (5). If we focus solely on goals from open play, Ross Barkley makes it into the top five with his four successful strikes, with the Englishman not having taken a penalty this campaign, unlike Arsenal loanee Pepe, who has scored three from the spot, as well as Delort, who netted four penalties before his loan move to Nantes in the winter transfer window.

THE GREAT DIVIDE BETWEEN AMRAOUI AND DANTE

By netting the winning goal in the 1-0 victory over Sheriff Tiraspol in the first leg of the Conference League last-16 tie in Chișinău, Ayoub Amraoui opened his account at just 18 years, nine months and 26 days old and in only his third senior match. As Nice’s youngest goalscorer of the season, he had surely taken a leaf out of Dante’s book, as, at 39 years, three months and 23 days old, the Brazilian’s opener in the 3-0 win over AC Ajaccio a month earlier made him the club’s oldest-ever goalscorer and the sixth-oldest in Ligue 1 history, dating all the way back to the 1947–48 season.

FROM Aaron TO Terem

The first goal of the season came from the right foot of Aaron Ramsey in the 1-1 draw away to Toulouse on the opening day, while the last one was scored by Terem Moffi, who provided the finishing touch to a fine Hicham Boudaoui cross on the final day. In the intervening period, Le Gym failed to score on just 12 occasions (once in the Conference League, 11 times in Ligue 1), finding the net in a total of 39 games.

Bryan had no time to waste, but BEKA BEKA Left IT LATE

82 seconds – that’s all the time that Joe Bryan needed to open the scoring in the 1-1 draw at Stadion Partizana on Matchday 2 of the UECL. In the league, Mattia Viti took just 15 seconds longer to beat the keeper in the 3-2 win over Troyes on Matchday 10.

The latest goal came from Nicolas Pepe, who converted from the spot in the 97th minute against Nantes. If we count games that went to extra time, Alexis Beka Beka comes out on top with his 113th-minute masterpiece in the 2-0 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Conference League play-off second leg.
